Benita Washington (born April 23, 1976 as Benita Faye Jones) is an American gospel musician and recording artist. She started her music career, in 2004, with the release of ''Hold On'' by Light Records. This album was her breathrough on the ''Billboard'' magazine charts, which it placed on the Gospel Albums and Independent Albums charts. Her second album, ''Renaissance'', was released by Central South Records in 2007. The album would chart on the Gospel Albums chart. She released the third album, ''The Word Remains'' with Shanachie Records. This would not chart. ==Early life== Washington was born on April 23, 1976, in Selma, Alabama, as Benita Faye Jones.〔 Work ID No. 334293091〕 She went to the University of Alabama, yet her military veteran father is an Auburn fan. Her advisor said she might should think about becoming a doctor or a lawyer.〔 She won the Gospel Dream contest in Atlanta, Georgia that propelled her individual musical career.
